The 53rd annual Flaming Festival proved to be another successful event! This festival made a grand statement when it presented nearly 40 elaborately-decorated, themed tabletops by Kappa Alpha Theta alumnae and area merchants. These stunning and fun displays were coupled with our luncheon speaker, Amy Grant! An added highlight was the evening preview party that kicked off the Festival on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.
Amy Grant's star on the legendary Walk of Fame in Hollywood honors her career that spans over 25 years and glitters including six Grammy Awards and 26 Dove awards. Grant has sold more than 30 million albums and assured her place in music history by stretching her gospel roots into iconic pop star, songwriter, television personality and philanthropist status. Grant was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta at Vanderbilt University. She is married to Oklahoma's Vince Gill.
Hot spots at the 2009 Flaming Festival were the fabulous Tea Table, complete with complimentary cookies and the delicious Pansy Pantry that sold homemade baked goods and appetizers.
Tickets for the Flaming Festival were $5, luncheon tickets were $75 and included admission into the Festival. Preview Party tickets were $50. Reservations were required for the luncheon and Preview Party.
Proceeds from the Flaming Festival benefited the Oklahoma County CASA training and volunteers, the “Food 4 Kids” program through the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Theta programs. Co-Chairmen of the Flaming Festival were Susie Kemp and Johnna Schick.
